Important Information about Racing in Oregon

The complete Oregon laws and administrative rules governing racing can be found on the Oregon Racing Commission website at www.oregonracingcomission.com or www.oregon.gov/racing. The Oregon Racing Commission is always evolving and adopting new standards, which OQHRA always follows to a tee. As of June 16, 2016, new rules have been adopted at the commission meeting regarding Clenbuterol and other drugs. Get in touch to learn more information about racing in Oregon.

462-160-0130 - Medications & Prohibited Substances

(11) Clenbuterol:
(a) The use of Clenbuterol shall be permitted under the following conditions: A test sample shall not exceed 2 picograms/milliliter (ml) of Clenbuterol in the blood or serum.
(b) Notwithstanding (11) (a), the use of Clenbuterol, albuterol, zilpaterol, ractopamine, or any analogues thereof in American quarter horses racing at recognized race tracks in Oregon is prohibited. All horses entering an official quarter horse race will be subject to testing by any biological method, including but not limited to hair, blood, and urine.

Coggins Test Requirement

The Oregon Racing Commission has adopted a rule requiring a current Coggins Test for all horses before entry onto race track facilities. Make sure your Coggins Test has been administered within the past six months before arriving at the race track.
